Pakistan PM: Israel Leaders Morally Bankrupt
Islamabad, MINA – Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday accused the Israeli political leadership of “moral bankruptcy”.
Khan said on Twitter that the Israeli leaders are ready to illegally annex the occupied West Bank only to win votes in the legislative elections.
“When leaders in Israel show a moral bankruptcy in their readiness to annex occupied West Bank in defiance of international law, Security Council resolutions, and their own constitution for votes, don’t their people feel a sense of outrage and wonder how far they will go simply to win an election?” he wrote.
Israelis on Tuesday began voting in an election that will determine whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will remain in power for a fifth term.
The election comes at a time when Netanyahu is facing charges of corruption, and shortly after the US president Donald Trump recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
Netanyahu on Saturday vowed in press statements that he will annex the West Bank settlements if he is reelected.(R/R04/P2)
