NORWAY FM DISCUSSES GAZA RECONSTRUCTION
Gaza, 14 Dzulqa’dah 1435/9 September 2014 (MINA) – Mofeed Al-Hasayneh, the Palestinian minister for public works and housing, met with the Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende in Gaza discussed the reconstruction and the effects of the recent Israeli war.
The brutal Israeli agresion has left Gaza with wide scale damage to its civilian infrastructure and commercial and agricultural sectors.
During a press conference, Al-Hasaynah called on all the countries in the world to visit the Gaza Strip to witness the magnitude of its destruction and the suffering of its citizens as a result of Israeli aggression.
He also said that Gaza’s doors are open to everyone, urging states to pledge donations to reconstruct whatever has been destroyed. Middle East Monitor (MEMO) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
Al-Hasaynah also stressed that the national unity government is responsible for the reconstruction and that it will be managed by the ministry of public works and housing in cooperation and coordination with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Brende said he would meet with President Abbas after meeting with Netanyahu this morning in order to discuss the reconstruction, as well as the mechanisms for aiding the Gazan people.
He emphasised the need to find a solution to the conflict. He said: “We completely support peace and the two-state solution, and we are with the right of the Palestinian people to have a sovereign state on their land.” (T/P003/R03)
