Makassar HWPL Discusses Issues of Violence
Seoul, 6 Ramadan 1438/1 June 2017 (MINA) – On May 24, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, and Christian religious leaders gathered together online on the theme of “violent extremism from religious views.”
Macassar HWPL World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Office (WARP Office) is an interfaith dialogue to discuss inter-religious harmony and peace, and it has progressed steadily at intervals of about one month, and it has entered the 16th.
The theme of the HWPL WARP Office related to the “Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism” announced by the United Nations in January 2016. It reflected the flow of international society that is trying to do its best Prevention than confrontation. On the same title, Peace campaigns including Peace Walk and Hand-printing event were held in Indonesia, Jakarta, Medan and Malang.
In a statement, the main content of the discussion was below how can we explain the causes of extreme violence from a religious perspective? And what is the ultimate solution to all the violence?
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Galib Mattola, the Islamic leader who attended the meeting, taught violent extremist solutions from a Muslim point of view: “The Koran teaches us to talk when there are differences. But if there’s no consensus, don’t use violence and ask them to use love instead. When there’s a problem, it’s important to forgive and communicate someone else’s mistakes (Koran 3: 159). The Koran requires the government to take firm action on the groups that commit violence, If the group stops using violence, it teaches to treat it equally without prejudice. ”
HWPL World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Office understand that their religions and cultures are different, It’s also a field of inter-religious communication and unity that seeks to alleviate conflicts among religions. They explore “What is the true peace that religion should pursue by the worship” and Each religion aim Peace in one.
