Jakarta, MINA – Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts light rain in Jakarta today, Monday. This condition is part of the annual pattern marking the transition to the rainy season, especially in the last week of October.

According to BMKG, several regions in Indonesia, particularly areas south of the equator such as Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, as well as parts of Kalimantan and southern Sulawesi, are entering the early phase of the rainy season.

The beginning of the rainy season is usually characterized by hot daytime weather, followed by uneven rainfall in the late afternoon or evening. Wind patterns also begin to change direction, while humidity levels increase significantly.

BMKG reminds the public to remain cautious of warm conditions that often appear before rainfall. This phenomenon occurs due to strong surface heating and rising humidity before rain clouds form.

In addition, the public is advised to maintain their health and anticipate extreme weather changes that may occur during this transitional period, such as rain accompanied by strong winds and localized thunderstorms.

With the onset of light rain in Jakarta and surrounding areas, BMKG considers this a sign of the gradual arrival of the rainy season in much of southern Indonesia.[]
