Islamic Media expected to Stand Together in “Shaping the World”

Jakarta, 17 Sha’ban 1437/25 May 2016 (MINA) – The Prime Board of Supervisor of International Conference of Islamic Media (ICIM) Yakhsyallah Mansur said that the media has a very important role  “in shaping the world”, as its important role could create public opinion.

“The media has a strength that is not less severe than the law to influence the thinking and behavior of the people,” said Yakhsyallah who is the imaam of Jamaah Muslimin in his opening remarks at the ICIM in Jakarta, Wednesday (25/5).

However, he lamented that almost all media currently dominated by the people who has  an interest to destroy the Muslims and create a bad image of Islam.

“The media have an important role in shaping public opinion,” he stressed out.

The conference held from 25-26 May 2016 titled “Islamic Media United to Protect Islam and Muslim Interests Especially Palestine and Al-Quds Liberation ”

Appeals of United

Yakhsyallah in his speech also called on the Islamic world to unite to fight for Palestine freedom.

“Muslims are a people who are one, the best people, the higher position than the others,” He said.

Yakhsyallah added that Muslims unity could be a powerful force and would bring in the help of God. Because the strength and help of God descends with the unity of Muslims.

“The strength and help from Allah together with Al-Jama’ah, united by the belief in the soul not as many possessions and material,” he said.

He added that the potential unity of the Muslims would be much more spread out to the international community, if it is supported strongly by the Islamic media.

“The media took important role in the life of mankind nowadays. Because media is a powerful force in influencing the opinions and ideas of the world, “he added.

It is not easy, but Muslims should not despair of doing reconciliation, improvement, should continue to be pursued in the spirit of continuous jihad.

To that end, he stressed that the convening of this ICIM, is to straighten out all forms of bad images by the some media. Including to a common perception among Islamic media itself.

The conference invited the editor in chief of news agencies and media organizations from 50 countries.

The conference presented by international speakers, among them Imaam Shamsi Ali (Founder Nusantara Foundation; USA), Dr. Daud Abdullah (Director of Middle East Monitor; UK), Sheikh Ahmad Shoyyan (Editor in Chief of Al-Bayan magazine; Saudi Arabia), and Ahmad Ashaaf (chief editor of the Palestinian News Agency WAFA; Palestine).

The conference to result Jakarta Declaration for Islamic Media, is expected to unite media in realizing the freedom of Palestine.

The conference will also be attended officials, scholars, community leaders and activists.(L/P008/R04)
