Indonesian Ulema Council Inaugurates 100 Competent Preachers

Jakarta, MINA – The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) inaugurated more than 100 competent dai (preachers) to be awarded certificates.

“This event give certificates to the preachers who have graduated according to the MUI,” said Chairman of the MUI Da’wah Commission KH. Cholil Nafis in Jakarta on Monday.

According to him, the MUI Da’wah Commission has been trying to improve the competencies of preachers to become more qualified. He hoped the competent preachers would later be able to form friendship forum so that they could serve the people better.

“We hope that in the future there will be friendship forum to improve quality. Periodic meetings and facilitation for people to get quality dai,” he said.

In the same place, Deputy Chairman of the Central Islamic Ulema Commission Ustaz Fahmi Salim explained this activity aims to equalize perceptions and unite national da’wah in answering religious and national issues.

“The national dakwah meeting equalize perspectives about homeland issues in the country as well as inaugurate dai who have followed competency standardization,” said Ustaz Fahmi.

He said so far preaching in Indonesia has been running so rampant and there were many preaching institutions or preachers who come to enlighten and educate the nation’s life.

“But not a few people also complained about the competence of preachers. So it is necessary to have this standardization. We do not want to say this is the preacher certification,” he said.

According to him, the MUI Commission already has da’wah ethics and da’wah guidelines that require a preacher to have competency standards, so there is no preacher who does not understand Al-Quran or hadith correctly.

“Do not let the preacher only be good at bringing emotions or can be funny but do not understand about texts or religious texts that must be explained to the public. Well, this is what we want to equate perceptions,” said Ustaz Fahmi Salim.

The National Da’wah Coordination Meeting was officially opened by Vice President KH. Ma’ruf Amin. In addition, Kiai Ma’ruf also launched a application built by MUI, the Da’wah Application MUI.

“In this event Kiai Ma’ruf opened and launched the MUI mission application. In the application there is information about da’wah. There is a da’wah map, qibla direction. MUI fatwas also exist,” he said. (T/Sj/P2)
