Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony, President Wears Traditional Dress

Jakarta, MINA – President Joko Widodo and State Officials, as well as a number of figures wearing traditional clothing from various regions while attending the 74th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence at the State Palace, Jakarta on Saturday, August 8.

This is the same as last year, when officials and invited guests were asked to wear traditional or regional clothing.

The commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Proclamation began with heirloom flag and original text of the proclamation from National Monument to Merdeka Palace.

The flag-raising ceremony for the red and white flag began at 10:00 local time. President Jokowi acts as Ceremony Inspector.

Previously, a number of entertainment was presented to invited guests ranging from traditional dances to traditional music.

The invited guests who attended also wore traditional clothes typical of a number of regions in Indonesia, the state officials present included a number of ministers.

The committee prepared 11,000 seats for invited guests who witnessed the 74th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Palace.

Of this amount, as much as 30 percent is allocated to government elements and 70 percent is allocated to the community.

Meanwhile, in the flag-drop ceremony held in the afternoon, 13,000 seats for invited guests were prepared. (L/Sj/P2)
