Jakarta, 27 Sha’ban 1435/25 June, 2014 (MINA) – Indonesia Broadcasting Commission (KPI) issued a circular letter to all broadcaster agencies in order to keep Muslim worship in the holy Ramadan through their programs.
The circular letter 1458/K/KPI/06/14 asked the agencies to broadcast programs which does not contradict to the broadcasting code of conduct and Standards of Broadcasting Program.
“We reminded all media to broadcast programs that support Muslims worship in Ramadan,” said the chairman of Indonesian Broadcasting Commission, Judhariksawan in his office, Jakarta, Tuesday (24/6).
Furthermore, Judha explained, the broadcasters are asked not to make Ramadan as a month of commodities. “One of the circular letter asked not to insert the commercial advertisement in “azan” time,” said Judha.
According to Judha, KPI cooperated with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in monitoring the broadcast.
During Ramadan, KPI and MUI will monitor the entire program in all Indonesian media agencies.
“KPI and MUI will ask for termination of the program if there are violating the calm of Ramadan,” said Judha.
In addition, KPI and MUI will give awards for programs which contain religious value and supporting the implementation of Ramadan.
According to Judha, the awards are expected to motivate broadcasters agencies to improve the quality of content of the program in supporting Muslims worship in the holy month. (T/Syt/P04).
