Indonesia Keen to Cooperate with Argentina to Improve National Soccer

Hangzhou, 05 Dzulhijjah 1437/07 September 2016  (MINA)  – The Indonesian government is eyeing to improve the level of soccer in the country by establishing bilateral cooperation with the government of Argentina, President Joko Widodo stated at the G20 Summit in Hangzhou, China, Antara reported.

“I am interested in improving cooperation in sports, especially in soccer, by bringing in coaches from Argentina to Indonesia,” President Widodo noted here during a bilateral talk with Argentinian President Mauricio Macri on Tuesday.

National sports issues were discussed with the Argentinian president in addition to the developments and bureaucratic reforms carried out by the Indonesian government, such as opening up the trade and investment sectors in the country and economic deregulation.

The two countries are also interested in improving economic ties in several potential sectors by enhancing cooperation among state- or private-owned enterprises.

President Macri remarked that Argentina will form a team for a trade mission to Indonesia to identify the countrys areas of potential.

At the end of the discussion, President Widodo invited his Argentinian counterpart to visit Indonesia.

The invitation was warmly welcomed by President Macri, who is scheduled to visit the archipelagic country in March or April next year.  (T/R07/R01)
