INDONESIA HAS EXPORTED 35,000 TONNES OF UNIONS

Kendari, 12 Muharram 1437/25 Oktober 2015 (MINA) – Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman said Indonesia has exported 35,000 tons of onions this year, the success that is less known to the public.

“We used to have discourse to import onions, but in fact just now we export 35,000 tonnes of onions,” said Amran during  a briefing before regional officials of the ministry throughout Southeast Sulawesi, here on Saturday night.

Despite lack of news coverage, Indonesia has also shipped abroad green beans and corn, the minister said
.
According to Amran, during this time a lot of news coverage related to food imports, while the export of some commodities even success hardly ever been exposed.

“It’s been 365 days or one year the rule of President Jokowi, it has not been imported (rice) as the production of our rice this year is the highest in the last 10 years,” he said.

“It should be noted, and this remarkable achievement because we have not opened the tap for the importation of rice. Imports will only prosper Vietnamse and Thai farmers,” he said. (T/R07/R01)
