INDONESIA TO BUY WATER BOMBERS FOR TACKLING FOREST FIRES
Jakarta, 26 Dzuhijjah 1436/10 October 2015 (MINA) – President Joko Widodo has said Indonesia would buy water bomber aircrafts for forest fire fighting efforts that often hit the archipelagic country.
We will at least purchase three planes having large capacity or capable of carrying out water bombing with up to 12 tons of water,” he said in an inspection on burned areas in the village of Rombo Panjang in the sub-district of Tambang, Kampar, Riau province, Sumatra, on Friday.
The Head of State said the budget for the planned purchase is yet to be discussed with the parliament.
On the current haze problem, he believed it would be settled within the next two weeks or even less than two weeks if possible, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) quoted Antara News as reporting.
Indonesia would soon forge cooperation with five countries to cope with smokes from land and forest fires.
There are five countries that will cooperate with Indonesia, namely Australia, China, Malaysia, Russia, and Singapore. (T/R07/R01)
