Hajj Pilgrims of West Bank Departed to Mecca

Jericho, MINA – After from Gaza, there are around 3,000 Palestinian hajj pilgrims from the West Bank who began to deploy to Mecca for this annual worship.

According to Wafa correspondent’s report on Sunday, July 27, more than 60 buses carried pilgrims from the West Bank to Jericho before continuing their trip to Jordan by flying to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. They also had to go through the border crossing of Al-Karama Bridge.

Palestinian crossing authorities have announced that the trip through Al-Karama Bridge will be open to pilgrims only on Friday and Saturday. They also appealed to those who are non-pilgrims not to plan trips to Jordan that day.

Palestinian crossing authority said that trips to the West Bank from Al-Karama Bridge would also be limited.

Thousands of people cross Al-Karama Bridge every day, their access only in the West Bank occupied by Israel.

Israel, who controls crossings from the occupied West Bank side, allows only two hours a day crossing the bridge to Jordan.

Wafa correspondent said Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh met with hajj pilgrims when they arrived in Jericho to check their condition before the trip to Mecca.

The first contingent of Gaza pilgrims, which is numbered 850 people, arrived in Mecca on Saturday morning which had previously traveled through Egypt. They headed to Egypt via Rafah crossing.

Palestinian Ministry of Religion said that as many as 6,600 Palestinians are expected to perform pilgrimage in Mecca this year that they will be divided into nine contingents. (T/Sj/P2)
