General Strike In Blockaded Gaza Over Workers’ Infringed Rights

1975339741Gaza, 18 Jumadil Awal 1437/26 February 2016 (MINA) – A general strike was announced by the Workers’ Union in the blockaded Gaza Strip on Thursday to demand reimbursement of workers’ salaries.

Public institutions and ministries in Gaza have been shut down since the early morning hours at the same time as classes have been suspended in the occupied West Bank in protest at the reluctance maintained by al-Hamdallah’s government as regards the teachers’ demands, The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported.

A meeting held by the Workers Union on Tuesday culminated in the announcement of a series of decisions and moves to push for restoring the workers’ rights and repudiating attempts at turning their cause into a bargaining chip.
