Gaza, MINA – Head of Gaza’s Taxi Drivers Union Jamal Jarad on Tuesday asked the competent authorities to reduce fuel prices and provide more facilities for the drivers.

Jarad said in a press statement that the Gaza Strip transportation sector is facing great challenges due to the decade-long blockade imposed on the costal enclave which has led to a deterioration in the living and economic conditions.

He appealed to the concerned authorities to work to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, including taxi drivers, and called on the international community to pressure the Israeli occupation to lift the siege, open crossings and allow the entry of goods and fuel supplies into Gaza.

The Palestinian Authority government had decided to raise the prices of fuel coming from Israel and Egypt to Gaza by the beginning of 2018.(R/R04/RS5)
