Denmark Contributes €2M to EU Area C Development Programme
Jerusalem, MINA – The Danish government provided around €2 million to start the implementation of nine social infrastructure projects in Area C.
The contribution was channeled through the European Union Area C Development Programme, WAFA reported, citing a press release distributed by the EU office in Jerusalem.
Hussain Al A’raj, Minister of Local Government, Nathalia Feinberg, the Danish Representative, and Riccardo Rossi, Representative of the EU Office, attended the signing ceremony of the implementation agreements between the Municipal Development and Lending Fund (MDLF) and representatives of eight local communities across the West Bank.
This contribution is the second package of the EU Area C Development Programme. The Programme, which its funds total to €9.5 million, is funded by the EU, Denmark, France, and the UK.
The second package of social infrastructure projects will fund nine social infrastructure projects in eight localities serving more than 6,500 beneficiaries. The funded projects include schools, roads, multipurpose buildings and a public park.
In the past few years, the EU and EU Member States have supported developmental planning in Area C initiated and promoted by the Palestinian Ministry of Local Government. (T/RS5/RS1)
