Tokyo, MINA – North Korea on Monday condemned the UN Security Council’s new US-sponsored sanctions over its long-range missile tests, threatening to retaliate against the US.

“We are ready to retaliate with far bigger actions to make the US pay a price for its crime against our country and people,” the government issued a statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

Calling the sanctions as a “violent infringement of its sovereignty” caused by a “heinous US plot to isolate and stifle”

North Korea, the statement also said that if “enemies” believe that North Korea can be rattled by sanctions, it is nothing more than a delusion.

“As long as the US sticks to its hostile policy and nuclear blackmailing, we will not budge an inch from our path toward strengthening our nuclear force.”

The statement came after the UN Security Council (UNSC) unanimously adopted tough new sanctions on Saturday in response to the regime’s two tests of intercontinental ballistic missiles in July. (T/RS5/RS1)
