Jakarta, 23 Jumadil Akhir 1438/22 March 2017 (MINA) – Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla departed for Thailand on Tuesday to receive an honorary doctorate degree in business administration from the Rajamangala University of Technology Isan (RMUTI) in the province of Pathumthani on Wednesday.
The vice president and his wife, Mufidah Jusuf Kalla, left Jakarta for Bangkok on Tuesday morning aboard a special presidential aircraft Boeing 737-400, Antara reported, citing a press statement of the vice presidential office’s public communication and information service released on Tuesday.
On the first day of his visit on Tuesday, Kalla will deliver an address at a dinner party hosted by RMUTI.
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will confer the honorary doctorate degree on the Indonesian vice president at the Graduation Hall on Wednesday morning, in the presence of some two thousand graduates.
As Thailand is still in mourning after the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Kalla is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha. He will also meet the Indonesian community in Thailand.
Earlier, Kalla had also received an honorary doctorate degree from the Soka University in Tokyo in 2009 and Universitas Malaya in Kuala Lumpur in 2007 as well as five doctorate degrees from domestic institutions of higher learning.
The vice president and his wife are scheduled to return home on Thursday night. (T/RS5/RS1)
