Gaza, 12 Jumadil Awwal 1438/10 February 2017 (MINA) – Deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Thursday met in his office with the Turkish ambassador to the Palestinian Authority (PA), Mustafa Sarnic, and discussed with him several issues of mutual interest.

According to a statement released by Haneyya’s office, the two sides explored at length several important issues, most notably Israel’s recent military attacks on the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported.

They also voiced rejection of Israel’s new Knesset legislation that legalized settlement expansion, and agreed on describing it as another Israeli attempt to seize more Palestinian land.

They talked about the Turkish efforts to alleviate the suffering of the population in Gaza, especially with regard to the electricity problem.

During the meeting, Haneyya urged Turkey to expedite the opening of its hospital in Gaza, increase its reconstruction efforts and provide medical care for patients suffering chronic health problems and make other humanitarian contributions that would support the steadfastness of the Gazans.

The ambassador, for his part, promised that Turkey would make more efforts in this regard and would work hard to address all issues which the population suffers from.(T/R04/RS05)
