Indonesia`s fishery grows faster than agricultural sector.

Jakarta, 17 Safar 143/17 November 2016 (MINA) – Indonesia’s export of fish and fishery products from January to August increased 3.69 percent to 2.6 billion U.S. dollars from a year earlier, a senior official of fishery ministry said here on Wednesday.

The export was dominated by the shipment of shrimp to the United States, Xinhua quoted Nilanto Perbowo, director general for product competitiveness of the fishery and maritime ministry, as saying.

The cumulative of shrimp export by August rose 3.75 to 1.13 billion U.S. dollars, on yearly basis, he added.

“Our shrimp exports exceed the exports from Thailand, now we dominate the shipment of shrimp overseas,” Perbowo said at the ministry.
