PREMIER HAMDALLAH CALLS ON EU TO END MILITARY ESCALATION
Ramallah, 29 Dzulhijjah 1436/13 October 2015 (MINA) – Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah Monday called on the European Union to exert pressure on Israel to immediately end its military escalation against Palestinians in the occupied territories.
Hamdallah also called for an end to settlers’ extremism and their daily violations in Jerusalem and the West Bank against vulnerable communities and sacred and holy sites, Wafa News Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
He said the EU must support PA’s demands to issue an international resolution to end the occupation and guarantee the establishment of a settlement-free Palestinian state on the boarders of 1967 with Jerusalem as its capital.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it described as “incitement” and escalation by the Israeli “right-wing government” of Benjamin Netanyahu.
The ministry condemned Israel’s decision to legalize the use of firearms against Palestinian civilians, amid talks of a third intifada.
It called on the United Nations Security Council to take immediate action to stop the grave Israeli escalations and provide international protection to the Palestinian people.
The ministry also condemned the Israeli army’s violations against Palestinian and international journalists who are covering the uprising events in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
At least nine Palestinian journalists were targeted and injured by the Israeli army while covering the events in the West Bank and Gaza last week. Medical teams were also targeted by the Israeli army during the events.(T/P008/R04)
