Policewoman, Aunt, Nephew Convert to Islam
Bandar Seri Begawan, 28 Rajab 1437/06 May 2016 (MINA) – A policewoman from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) converted to Islam Thursday at her home in Kampung Biong Pancuran Layong, Tutong.
The event started with a mass recitation of Surah Al-fatihah, followed by the Syahadah (declaration of faith) by Ros Erahafidah Abdullah in front of witnesses from Pusat Da’wah Islamiah (PDI).
The 23-year-old chose Ros Erahafidah Abdullah as her Muslim name from the previous name Jubli Abdullah, Mi’raj Islamic New Agency (MINA.
A gift from the Religious Islamic Body of the RBPF, was also presented to the new convert by the wife of RBPF commissioner, Datin Hjh Rosminah Hj Abdul Hamid.
Present as guest of honour was Legislative Council (LegCo) Member Yang Berhormat Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Hj Othman Uking.
Also present was LegCo member Yang Berhormat Hj Ramli Hj Lahit; RBPF Commisioner Dato Paduka Seri Hj Bahrin Md Noor; and fellow officials from the Tutong Police Station and officials from PDI.
Meanwhile, two Filipino nationals also converted to Islam last night with the ceremony taking place in Kg Jangsak.
The aunt, 42-year-old Bella Angel Maturan, chose Nur Varisha Abdullah as her Muslim name while nephew 23-year-old Don Arvin Angel Dacumos chose Muhammad Awie Abdullah as his new name.
Present as guest of honour was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awang Halbi Hj Mohd Yusof and wife.
PDI announced that to date, 190 people have converted to Islam so far this year. (T/R07/R01)
