Survivor Describes Chronology of Massacres in Papua

Jakarta, MINA – Based on information from a survivor of massacres in Papua, one of the employees of PT Istaka Karya who had been evacuated, there are 19 people died by armed separatist criminal groups (KKSB). The survivor initials JA also tells the chronology of the murder incident.

“According to the brother of JA, the victims were killed by KKSB on the hillside at the Peak of Kabo amounts up to 19 people,” explained by Colonel Inf Muhammad Aidi, when confirmed on Wednesday, as quoted from Republika Online.

Aidi said JA revealed the chronology of the incident began on Saturday which also claimed to be the independence day of Papuan organization (OPM). At that time, all employees of PT Istaka Karya decided not to work because there was a memorial service and enlivened with a stone-burning ceremony with the community.

Around 3:00 p.m., the KKSB group arrived at the PT Istaka Karya camp. They forced all 25 employees to get out and be led to Karunggame River in a bound hand. More or less, there are 50 KKSB people armed with a mixture of military standards.

Then, on Sunday, at 7:00 a.m. all the workers were taken on foot in a state of arms bound to the top of the hill Kabo. In the middle of the road, they were forced to march in a five-row formation on a squat road.

Not long after, said Aidi, the KKSB sadly opened fire on the workers. Some workers were shot dead on the spot and some pretended to be dead lying on the ground. After that, the KKSB left the victims to continue their journey to the Peak of Kabo hill.

Then, 11 employees who pretended to die trying to get back up and run away. But, they were seen by the KKSB. So, they were pursued and finally, five people were captured and killed using sharp weapons.

“Six people managed to escape towards Mbua, two of whom have not yet been found, while four people survived after being secured by TNI members at Yonif 755 / Yalet Post in Mbua,” Aidi said.

On Monday, around 05.00 a.m., TNI Post 755 / Yalet where the victim was secured was attacked by KKSB armed with military standards with a mixture of arrows and spears. The attack began with a stone thrown at the post, so one of the 755 / Yalet yonif members, Serda Handoko, opened the window and then he was shot and died.

“On Tuesday, at 07.00 a.m., the Joint Task Force of the TNI-Polri managed to occupy Mbua and carry out the rescue and evacuation of the victims,” Aidi explained. (T/Sj/RS5)
