Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Wiranto mentioned the riots in Papua, especially Wamena in the last few days ago was masterminded by two parties, namely Free Papua Organization (OPM) and United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) with its leader, Benny Wenda.

“OPM and Benny Wenda are trying to build a riot and expose the outside world to garner support to liberate Papua and West Papua,” he said at a press conference at the Office of Coordinating Ministry for Politics and Security, Central Jakarta on Monday, September 30.

According to Wiranto, Benny Wenda’s role was detected ahead of the Human Rights Summit in Switzerland and at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States a few days ago.

“Benny and his group are trying to show the existence of those who are also moving abroad. This conspiracy faces us all. Thanks Lord, their efforts failed, “said the former ABRI Commander.

Wiranto stated that there were no special countries that listened to the efforts of OPM and Benny because they contradicted with the UN Resolution 2524 which had been decided in 1969. However, Wiranto agreed that there was still much to be improved in Papua, especially Wamena.

“Although considered conducive and controlled, the government and security forces are still trying to eliminate trauma by providing security guarantees,” he said.

Wiranto said this was done to return the refugees who had previously lived in Papua, especially Wamena, to their displacement, directly stopping the economic wheels. (T/Sj/P2)
