Saudi Arabia, Indonesia Sign Agreement Allowing Domestic Workers to Work Again in Saudi Arabia
Jakarta, MINA — Eng. Ahmad bin Suleiman Al-Rajihi, Minister of Labor and Social Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri, Indonesian Minister of Manpower and Transmigration, signed here Thursday a cooperation agreement allowing Indonesian domestic workers to work again in the Kingdom within framework of consolidating bilateral relations between the two friendly states in the fields of labor and recruitment of domestic workers, SPA reported.
Upon the agreement, the recruitment will include a number of domestic professions.
On the sidelines of the agreement ceremony, the two ministries launched a one-channel electronic system for employment of Indonesian laborers, aiming at facilitating and accelerating measures of sending and recruiting the domestic workers in the Kingdom as well as maintaining the contractual rights of the parties.
Following the signing ceremony, Eng. Al-Rajihi said that “the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has close relations with the Republic of Indonesia. Accordingly, we affirm the importance of cooperation and coordination in enhancing bilateral interests between the two countries.”
He added that the future of labor relations between the Kingdom and Indonesia is promising due to solid foundations, looking forward to develop this relationship.
He pointed out that this agreement came within framework of protecting rights and organizing the labor relations between workers and employers in accordance with the laws, legislations and regulations of the two countries as well as in line with the international conventions and treaties.
