New York, 16 Sha’ban 1435/14 June 2014 (MINA) – Russia has filed a draft resolution with the United Nations Security Council, demanding all involving sides in Ukraine’s crisis to immediately finish the violence.

“They [the conflicting sides] are asked to immediately stop the violence and reach a lasting truce accord,” Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin told reporters in New York City about the content of the draft.

According to him, the draft demands all parties inside Ukraine to avoid actions that threatens the security of the civilians, according to Press TV report quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) on Saturday .

Ukraine’s mainly Russian-speaking parts in the east have been the scene of deadly clashes between pro-Russia protesters and the Ukrainian army since Kiev launched military operations in the southeastern regions in mid-April in a bid to root out the demonstrations there.

Slavyansk has been the epicenter of Ukraine’s two-month offensive. Russia recently accused Ukraine of using prohibited weapons during military operations to regain the pro-Russian militias’ stronghold of Slavyansk.

Schools, houses, institutions and even an orphanage have been targeted by Kiev’s military in Slavyansk in recent weeks.

Russia has called on Ukraine to cease its military operations in its eastern regions and to commence national dialogue to put an end to the bloodshed. (T/P09/E01)
