HACKERS RELEASE LIST OF FIVE MILLION GMAIL USERNAMES AND PASSWORDS

GMAILMoscow, 17 Dzulqa’dah 1435/12 September 2014 (MINA) – According to report, a Russian website has apparently leaked millions of Google (Gmail) account passwords.

The list containing almost 5 million combinations of Gmail addresses and passwords was posted online on Tuesday, Khaama Press quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Although, the leaked passwords seems to be old and do not seem to belong to Gmail accounts; however, it has been advised that some of the passwords should be changed.

In the meantime, reports suggest that around 60 per cent of the passwords are believed to be valid, probably obtained from websites where used their Google account detailed to register.

The list was posted on a Russian Bitcoin forum on Wednesday, and US media started reporting on it overnight.

An official in Google Rusia has said an investigation will be launched into the alleged leak, and reminded users to use strong passwords and enable two step login verification to protect their accounts.
