Reporters Converge on Subang Skypark over ‘Najib Leaving’ Rumour

ketaling Jaya,, MINA — Reporters from the local and international media thronged the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport near here early today following a rumour that former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would be leaving the country.

What appears to be a flight manifest naming Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor as passengers has been making the rounds since yesterday., Bernama reported.

It purportedly shows the arrival time of 6 am of an aircraft at the airport also known as Subang Skypark and its departure time four hours later for the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Indonesia.

In a Twitter post, Najib, who is the UMNO president and Barisan Nasional chairman, said he would take a short break to spend time with his family.

“After four decades in politics and the recent election campaign, which was regrettably personal and perhaps the most intense in Malaysian history, I will take a short break to spend time with my family whom I have not seen enough of in recent years,” he said.

The general election on May 9 saw the Najib-led BN being booted out of power, fuelled by what was viewed as a ‘people’s tsunami’, after a six-decade rule of Malaysia.

Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, 92, was sworn in on Thursday night as the country’s seventh prime minister, his second stint as Malaysia’s head of government. He was prime minister from 1981 to 2003. (T/RS5/RS1)
