Purwokerto, MINA – Political Observer from Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto, Central Java, Lutfi Makhasin said that the debate of presidential candidates is very important because it can be a political education to public.
“For public, the debate of presidential candidates can also be considered in voting,” Makhasin said, Friday as quoted from Antara News.
Besides of the most important thing, he said, the President Official Debate can be used by each candidates to explain their vision, mission and the program for the next five years.
For incumbents, he said, the President Official Debate is the momentum to carry out and build on the success claims that have been achieved so far.

Meanwhile, for the election commission , he said, the implementation of the debate is important to form the debate material that reflected public issues that are relevant and concerned by public.
“Economic and social issues such as employment, education and health also needed to be explored more,” he added.
In addition, he said, the issue of law enforcement, human rights, and the issue of counter-terrorism are also important to be explored.
The goal is the public have a real picture of what candidates will be chosen when election.

According to the schedule, the debate on presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the context of the 2019 Presidential Election will be held on January 17 and broadcasted live by a number of local television stations. (T/Sj/P2)
