Ramallah, 21 Syawwal 1437/26 July 2016 (MINA) – The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) has said that 45 Palestinian prisoners are on hunger strike in Israeli jails in protest at either the administrative detention policy or the Red Cross’ decision to decrease prison visits for families.

According to the PPS, 36 prisoners from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine are on hunger strike in solidarity with prisoner Bilal Kayed, who has been on hunger strike for 42 days in protest at sending him to administrative detention on the same day of his release.

Four other internees from Bethlehem province have also been on hunger strike for several days in protest at detaining them administratively,  the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) was quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Another four detainees continue their hunger strike against the Red Cross’ decision to reduce the monthly two visits it organizes for Palestinian families to jails to one visit.(T/P008/R07)
