PALESTINE TO START IMPORTING OIL FROM VENEZUELA
Bethlehem, 2 Ramadhan 1435/30 Juni 2014 (MINA) – The Palestinian Authority (PA) will start importing fuel and oil from Venezuela in the near future, said a Palestinian official, Monday (30/6).
The official said Venezuela would ship fuel to Palestine for five years at reduced prices.” Ma’an News Agency quoted by Miraj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
The shipments from Venezuela will arrive via either Jordan or Israel. In May, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro pledged to send oil and diesel to the Palestinian Authority, as part of agreements signed with Abbas during his visit to Caracas.
Venezuela, which sits atop the world’s largest oil reserves, said it would provide an initial shipment of 240,000 barrels of oil.
During the meeting, Maduro also agreed to support the Palestinian Authority seeks to provide state oversight of three Latin American regional organizations: the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), Bolibvarian Alliance for the Peoples of America (ALBA) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
“Palestinians have the right to maintain a commercial relationship with the institutions in the world,” said Maduro. During his third visit to Venezuela in five years, Abbas visited the tomb of Maduro predecessor, longtime leader Hugo Chavez, who died of cancer last year. (T/Nidiya/P04)
