Pakistan Military Shoots down Indian Spy Drone

Islamabad, MINA – Pakistan’s military on Friday shot down an Indian quad
copter suspected of spying after it intruded Pakistani territory along the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan administered Kashmir.

According to Pakistan military’s Inter Services Public relations (ISPR), “Indian quad copter spying across LoC in Rakhchikri sector shot down by Pakistan Army shooters.”

It confirmed that the wreckage of the quad copter was held by Pakistan military.

The military suspected the Indian quad copter of “spying” in the Rakhchikri sector of Kashmir.

This development coincided with Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria criticism of US plans to sell drones to India.

He said that the balance of power in the region would be disrupted because of the deal, and that providing sensitive military technology to India was akin to incitement of its “misadventures.”

Earlier in 2015, Pakistan army had claimed shooting down an alleged Indian ‘spy drone’ used for aerial photography.

In 2107, 1,140 ceasefire violations have taken place by India border forces along the LoC and Working Boundary that have resulted in killing of 45 civilians and injuries to 192 others. (T/RS5/RS1)
