New York, MINA — The Gaza Media Office strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the UN General Assembly, accusing him of promoting “eight major lies” to justify Israel’s war and genocide in the Gaza Strip, Anadolu Agency reported.
In a statement released Friday, the office described Netanyahu’s remarks as misleading and contradictory. It claimed the Israeli leader minimized the suffering of hostages, exaggerated global support for Israel following the October 7, 2023, attacks, and mischaracterized international recognition of Palestinian rights as extremist pressure.
The office also rejected Netanyahu’s claim of fighting terrorism on “seven fronts,” stating that Israel’s military operations primarily targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure in Gaza. Citing international reports, the office noted that 94% of Palestinians killed were civilians, including over 30,000 women and children, and that more than 90% of essential infrastructure — such as hospitals and schools — had been destroyed.
The statement accused Netanyahu of contradicting himself by blaming Palestinian factions for preventing civilian evacuations while simultaneously acknowledging the displacement of 700,000 people.

It also said Israel had committed genocide by dropping over 200,000 tons of explosives on residential areas, resulting in the deaths of more than 64,000 civilians — including 20,000 children and 10,500 women — and annihilating entire families.
Netanyahu’s claim that Palestinian groups were stealing aid while Israel provided food was also dismissed. The Gaza Media Office accused Israeli forces of turning aid convoys into “death traps,” killing or injuring thousands of civilians. It reported hundreds of deaths due to hunger, including at least 147 children.
The statement rejected Netanyahu’s criticism of countries recognizing Palestinian statehood, stating that recognition reflects a legitimate legal right and the international community’s acknowledgment of the Palestinian struggle against decades of displacement and violence.
Labeling Netanyahu’s remarks as attempts to distort facts and evade legal accountability, the office called on the international community to stop the war, enforce Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, open border crossings, allow humanitarian aid, and continue diplomatic efforts toward the recognition of a Palestinian state.

Netanyahu, in his UN address, denied accusations of genocide and deliberate starvation in Gaza. His speech was delivered amid a walkout by numerous delegates protesting Israel’s ongoing war in the enclave.
According to Palestinian sources, over 65,500 Palestinians, mostly women and children have been killed in Gaza since October 2023. The extensive destruction has left the region uninhabitable, with widespread hunger and disease. Israel currently faces genocide charges at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). []
