MOBILE PHONE FOR MUSLIMS TO BE LAUNCHED IN RUSSIA
Moscow, 11 Muharram 1436/4 November 2014 (MINA) – A unique cellphone solely for Muslims – with pre-installed Al-Qur’an in Russian and Arabic and “prayer alarm” – is to go on sale in Russia from the end of November.
Created by BQ-Mobile, the cell phone is expected to become a popular device with Muslims in Russia. A built-in navigator automatically determines the user’s location and also points the way to the qibla, where Mecca lies, according to mulimvillage.com report monitored by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA), Tuesday.
“Before creating the device, experts studied the interests of the faithful. They asked what kind of gadgets would be useful to them in everyday life. The mobile phone menu is very simple and clear, the user can in a few clicks turn the Suras (chapters) of the Koran,” said Timur Imaev, a representative of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia, as cited by the TASS news agency.
BQ-Mobile has told RT that the phone will go on sale nationwide by the end of November. The company said it will soon publish official pictures of the phone and its technical specifications.
“The new phone should enjoy wide popularity, as it will be accessible to all social groups,” chairwoman of the Union of Muslim Women, Naila Ziganshina, told the press.
BQ-mobile is a brand-new Russian company that sells cell-phones, smartphones and tablets at lowcost prices. (T/P3/R01)
