Minister of Economic Affairs Opens 15th IAEI Anniversary
Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Darmin Nasution who was accompanied by General Chairman of the Indonesian Islamic Economic Expert Association (IAEI) Bambang Brodjonegoro opened the IAEI 15th Anniversary event with the theme “Sharia Management in Hajj and Umrah Travel Businesses” at Bidakara Hotels, South Jakarta on Wednesday.
Darmin Minister who was appointed to replace Indonesian President Joko Widodo to open the event said that currently the Islamic economic conditions in Indonesia are not experiencing rapid development. Because there are several obstacles from real activities in sharia business.
“I conveyed the fact that the development of Islamic finance could not be fast because in the past few years, the obstacle was actually in the real sector. “It’s not a financial constraint, but our real sector is our activities,” Darmin explained.
Then, he revealed, basically Indonesia is a large sharia business market. It’s just that, it is not utilized optimally.
It can be seen, from the implementation of the Hajj and Umrah the number of Indonesians is number one. It’s just that, when entering into a superior business.
“As the largest Muslim population in the world, from that population, it is the highest number of people who perform the Hajj and Umrah, but once we enter the financial economy does not in number one,” he said.
The IAEI 15th Anniversary also held a national seminar on “Sharia Business Management in Hajj and Umrah Travels” along with businessmen of the Hajj and Umrah travel, government institutions and the National Sharia Council of MUI. (L/Sj/P2)
