Jakarta, 22 Rabi’ul Akhir 1436/12 February 2015 (MINA) – Chairman of Malaysia PAS Party, Suhaizan Kaiat, with his delegation visited one of the most considered humanitarian agencies in Indonesia, Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) and Wanadri to explore cooperation in tackling of post-flood.

“We hope MER-C and Wanadri can help us in tackling this issue in Kelantan,” Kaiat told Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) on Wednesday afternoon.

PAS is an Islamic party in Malaysia which is the opposition party at the national level, but the holder of government / the winner of the election in the state of Kelantan.

Kaiat proposed cooperation in three things; the mental recovery of disaster victims, home reconstruction and employment.

“However,  talking about mental recovery, MER-C is ready to help as we have the human resources, “said Idrus Alatas, one of MER-C volunteer at the meeting.

Idrus said, as a humanitarian organization, MER-C provided services without distinction of religion, race, political affiliation and social class, as this organization focuses on helping victims of disasters and mitigate them as soon as possible.

MER-C (Medical Emergency Rescue Committee) is a charitable organization engaged in humanitarian medical emergency with mandate, professional, neutral, independent, voluntary mission and high mobility.

MER-C aims to provide medical care for victims of war, violence due to conflicts, unrests, extraordinary events, and natural disasters at home and abroad.

On the same occasion Saleh Sudrajat, a member of Wanadri said, Their visit to MER-C and Wanadri was the right step.

“They want to build a post-disaster management. We are very glad sharing knowledge to them about disaster management and human resources, “said Saleh Sudrajat.

Saleh also said, his institution was ready to help them if PAS Youth needed help in future.

Wanadri is climbers association which was established on January 17, 1964 by six young men “former PANDU”, which became known as the founder Force.

Wanadri was inaugurated on May 16, 1964 with visions tough and resilient Indonesian youth and believing in the power of yourself. Along with the inauguration, the second generation was also confirmed in the organization that was the Pioneers Force consisting of 25 members.

Wanadri name comes from the Sanskrit, Wana means forest and Adri means mountain. Wanadri literally means mountain in the middle of the forest. (L/P009/R04)
