ISRAELI FORCES KILL PALESTINIAN IN SHUFAT REFUGEE CAMP RAID
Bethlehem, 25 Dzulhijjah 1436/9 October 2015 (MINA) – A Palestinian youth was killed and six others injured, including one critically, during an Israeli raid in East Jerusalem’s Shufat refugee camp on Thursday, medics said.
Locals said Israeli forces raided the camp and attempted to break into the home of Subhi Abu Khalifa, who had earlier stabbed an Orthodox Jewish man in Jerusalem.
Wissam Faraj, 20, was shot in the heart with an explosive, or “dum dum,” bullet and died during clashes which broke out during the raid, medics said, Maan News Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
Palestinians and Israeli forces exchanged gunfire during the incursion, with six Palestinians injured by live fire and 35 with rubber-coasted steel bullets.
A Fatah spokesperson said dozens of Israeli forces and helicopters surrounded the camp while raiding the home of Abu Khalifa.
Earlier, six Israelis, including a settler, were stabbed by Palestinians in separate attacks. Four Israelis, including a soldier, were injured in Tel Aviv by a Palestinian suspect, who was shot dead at the scene.
A settler in Kiryat Arba was seriously wounded after being stabbed by a Palestinian suspect who fled the scene, while Subhi Abu Khalifa stabbed an Orthodox Jewish man in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem.
Fierce clashes were reported across the occupied West Bank for the seventh consecutive day on Thursday, with at least 800 Palestinians injured by Israeli military forces since Saturday, including over 60 with live fire. (T/P010/R03)
