ISRAELI DOCTOR RUNS HUMANITARIAN MISSION IN PALESTINE

         Bethlehem, 20 Rabiul Akhir 1434/2 March 2013 (MINA) – An Israeli doctor Micha Shamir on Wednesday (27/2) secretly visited a Palestinian hospital in the West Bank to treat the injured victims in the clashes with Israeli police.
        According to algemeiner.com as quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Micha Shamir works at the Hadassah Medical Center. He went to Palestine without any know from the government of Israel. “I must help the people who need our help. It is my duty and I do not need to think twice to do it”, he said.

        “When we entered the Palestinians, no one knows our departure. This is a humanitarian mission, and anyone can do it, including us,” added the doctor.
       Dr. Shamir felt that he must provide an assistance to the victims. Palestinians really need the help to recover their pain, especially the victims of demonstrations who got suffer in the past two weeks.
       Right now, Shamir is handling two Palestinians were hit by police gunfire during a demonstration in Qusra, West Bank on Saturday (23/2). They are Hilmi Abdul Azizi who was wounded in his abdomen, and Khalid who was wounded in his leg.
       Before performing the recovering to the patients, Shamir made a coordination with the local mayor to be allowed to help the injured patients. “Over the last ten years there were no competent doctor to be able to handle this case properly,” said Shamir.
        The demonstrations in Palestine become worsened following the death of Palestinians in Israeli jails. They demanded to the Israeli government to release Palestinians who is currently still in Israeli jails. Right now there are approximately 4500 Palestinians who were there.
         From the number of prisoners over 3000 prisoners are on a hunger strike. They demanded an investigation by an international organisation to have an investigation to the case of the death of Arafat Jaradat in Israeli jails.
        Israeli authorities said that Jaradat was not tortured while in prison. He died because of a heart disease.
        Meanwhile, Jaradat’s father recognized that Jaradat was bleeding many wounds on his head. He said that his son was in good health when he was arrested by Israeli police last week. He believes that his son’s death was the result of torture while in the prison.
        The Israeli government was frightened by the bad situation in the West Bank which began to spread to all the Palestinian territories.
         Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appealed for help in order to persuade the Palestinian Authority to stop Palestinian rallies.
