Indonesian’s Role for Palestine Consistent: ICMI Expert
Jakarta, MINA – Dr. Muhammad Najib, Chair of Foreign Relations of Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI), said that Indonesia’s role in supporting Palestinian independence is consistent if compared to other countries.
He mentioned that the development in the Middle East is very fast, in fact almost all Arab countries left Palestine and turned to support Israel for various reasons.
However, there are several non-Arab countries that support Palestine such as Turkey, Iran, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
“Even though Turkey, Iran can help (Palestine) militarily, economically, politically, we (Indonesia) are only morally, compared to Turkey and Iran, we are consistent, from President Ir. Soekarno until the president (now) remains consistent in supporting Palestine, “Najib said when presenting his material in the” Seminar on Intellectual Role and Responsibility in Supporting the Liberation of Al Aqsa Mosque and Palestine Independence “at Salemba University of Indonesia (UI) Campus, Jakarta on Saturday, August 24.
This is the strength of Indonesia, he continued the Indonesian people and government are consistent in supporting Palestinian independence and the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Indonesia itself as a non-permanent member of the United Nations continues to voice its support for Palestine in the international community and channel financial assistance through UNWRA.
In addition, Indonesian volunteers through Emergency Medical Committee Committee-Rescue (MER-C) in cooperation with the Al-Fatah Ponpes Foundation are trying to provide health services to the Palestinian people by building an Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, Palestine.
“The Seminar on Intellectual Roles and Responsibilities in Supporting the Liberation of the Al Aqsa Mosque and Palestinian Independence” is also a support of Indonesian people for Palestine with one of the aims of making recommendations for concrete contributions from intellectuals.
The seminar was organized by Al-Aqsa Working Group (AWG), a humanitarian agency that focuses on the liberation of Palestine in collaboration with the School of Strategic Studies and the Global UI, Jama’ah Muslimin (Hizbullah), and covered by several media such as the MINA News Agency. (L/Sj/P2)
