Indonesian Vice President Opens Indo-Pacific Dialogue in Jakarta

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Vice President, Jusuf Kalla officially opened High Level Dialogue on Indo-Pacific Cooperation (HLDIPC) at Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/3).

“From Indonesia, Indo Pacific concept is mutually beneficial cooperation based on the principles of openness, transparency, inclusiveness and respect for international law,” Vice President said.

He also said that this forum brought together the countries of Indo Pacific region which are sharing same location in the area of ring fire, so that they could face simillar challenges.

“So, in this indo-Pacific dialogue it is not to express ideas in just one context, but to synergize points and interests based on mutual benefit and regional stability,” explained Vice President.

In short, the Vice President explained that this was an Indo Pacific collaboration from all for all.

Previously, Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno LP Marsudi, said that concrete cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region is in line with Indonesia’s vision to become the world’s maritime axis.

As an archipelago located in two oceans (Indian and Pacific) in the Indo-Pacific region, Indonesia wants to create a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific region based on mutual trust, mutual respect, and a spirit of cooperation.

Indonesian Foreign Minister also reported to the Vice President, the forum bearing the theme “Towards a Peaceful, Prosperous and Inclusive Area”, was attended by Ministerial officials, deputy ministers, representatives of international organizations from various countries of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

As 18 member countries of the East Asia Summit, including Australian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand attended the dialogue that initiated by Indonesia. (L/Sj/R04)
