Indonesian Citizens Get Free Visa for Visiting Saint Christopher and Nevis

Bogota, MINA – Indonesian Citizens (WNI) can visit with free visa to the countries of Saint Christopher (Saint Kitts) and Nevis since 1 February 2019.

The decision to grant visa-free was based on consideration of the principle of reciprocity and the improved bilateral relations between Indonesia and Saint Kitts and Nevis. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saint Kitts and Nevis conveyed the Government’s decision through a diplomatic note on Friday.

It was released from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Bogota, Priyo Iswanto, which also accredited the Saint Kitts and Nevis countries.

“The decision of the Saint Kitts and Nevis Government is a good understanding of the government regarding the developments in Indonesia because of intensive discussions between the Indonesian Embassy in Bogota and the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis,” said Iswanto

The Saint Kitts and Nevis government is interested in increasing more concrete cooperation with Indonesia, among others in cooperation in the tourism, agriculture and maritime sectors, as well as education.

In an effort to improve cooperation between the two countries, the Indonesian government has provided capacity building among others in the field of disaster management and invited female students from Saint Kitts and Nevis to study batik in Solo.

“The name Indonesia is well-known in Saint Kitts and Nevis through the sale of batik produced by ‘Caribelle Batik’ since 40 years ago and a resort with a Balinese architecture since 2017,” said Iswanto.

In order to enhance cooperation with Indonesia, the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis plans to open an Honorary Consul Office in Indonesia in the near future.

Saint Kitts and Nevis is a country located in the Caribbean region with a population of 55,345 and per capita income of $17,090.
