Jakarta, MINA – The Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) is committed to supporting Palestine in developing drug capacity and function of food routines.

Head of BPOM Penny K. Lukito asserted that the development of medicines was one form of support from BPOM along with the Indonesian government how to build an independent Palestinian state and society.

“The development is in the form of the authority of clinical trials, marketing, regulatory inspection, vaccine release, laboratory testing and for now, is the supervision of medicines,” said Penny on the sidelines of the Launching of South-South Cooperation (SSC) between BPOM and The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) Palestine which was held at a hotel in Jakarta on Monday (15/10).

BPOM supports Palestine through the SSC will be carried out in the form of a continuous training program in three stages including comparing drug and food control systems in Palestine to find priority training needs.

The first phase of the training took the theme “Strengthening Cooperation in The Field of Drug Control Through Knowledge Sharing” held on 15-19 October 2018.

This event coincided with the holding of the Palestinian Solidarity Week held on October 21, 2018, in Jakarta, to commemorate the 29th year of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Palestine.

This is good momentum expected to further enhance relations between the two countries and can drain economic potential, especially in the field of medicine.

BPOM wants to work together that can strengthen the capacity of Palestinian regulators in ensuring that products marketed in Palestine are safe, efficacious and of good quality.
