Manila, Philippines, 02 Sya’ban 1437/10 May 2016 — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) lauded the candidates who have conceded in the general elections.
Comelec Chairman Juan Andres Bautista said that the gesture of some candidates to acknowledge the victory of their opponents would be a good gesture to ease political tension.
“I hope this will become a tradition that will be practiced in the future elections,” Bautista said in an interview with the state news agency PNA.
Bautista also congratulated the candidates who have already accepted their defeat as soon as partial unofficial tallies came out on Monday night
