Al-Maliki Praises Malaysia’s Plan to Open Embassy for Palestine

Ramallah, MINA – Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riad al-Malki, praised Malaysia on Sunday after the country’s Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad declared his country’s plan to open an embassy in Jordan accredited for Palestine.

“Malaysia’s stance is a blessed initiative by a courageous Malaysian leadership with a vision committed to supporting the Palestinian cause and international legitimacy and its decisions,” Al-Malki said in a statement as quoted from WAFA, Sunday (28/10).

He said the Malaysian announcement proves that Malaysia “is not intimidated by threats and pressure practiced against it by some world powers.”

Al-Malki said he had met with the Malaysian Prime Minister on the sideline of the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku, Azerbaijan, and thanked him on behalf of the leadership and people of Palestine on this courageous step.
