After a Week Closed, Pakistan Opens Its Flight Area

Karachi, MINA – The Pakistan Aviation Authority on Friday fully reopened airspace for commercial flights after a week-long closure.

“The airspace was completely closed to local and international flights after last week’s air fighting between Pakistani and Indian air forces, both sides claimed to have shot down their respective planes,” a statement from the Pakistan Aviation Authority was quoted of Anadolu Agency (AA).

According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the country’s airspace has been fully reopened and flight operations at all airports have now been restored.

The closure left thousands of passengers stranded at several airports around the world, in addition to forcing airlines to reschedule their flights.

The tensions between the two nuclear countries increased after last month’s suicide attack on army convoys in Kashmir which killed at least 40 Indian soldiers. India accused Pakistan of being involved in the attack, while the allegations were denied by Islamabad. (T/Sj/P2)
