Abu Rudeineh: Netanyahu’s Statements and Israeli Provocations Sabotage US Peace Efforts

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas.

Ramallah, MINA – Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, Tuesday condemned statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he pledged to continue Israeli settlements in the West Bank and for allowing Israeli parliament members to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, especially in East Jerusalem, are illegal and will have to be dismantled, WAFA reported, citing Rudeinah in statetement.

He also warned that Israeli provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem will lead to dire consequences whose responsibility will be of the Israeli government alone.

He called for the immediate cessation of all steps that fuel religious feelings in the holy places, pointing out that these measures are “a message to the US administration, which sought in an important round for its high-level delegation in the region to do something to salvage the peace process.”

He stressed that the US administration should deal with these provocations as a “real obstacle to all these efforts and an attempt to bring things back to the zero point and a critical stage.”
