GAZAN STUDENTS HELD PALESTINE SOLIDARITY WEEK
Gaza, 30 Jumadil Akhir 1435/30 April 2014 (MINA) – The Student Executive Board (SEB) of Islamic University of Gaza on Tuesday held Palestine Solidarity Week in commemoration of the Palestinian struggle, as Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA)’s correspondent reported.
Various activities held during the event of which exhibited specific situations and conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, a special screening videos experienced by Palestinian prisoners, the photo exhibitions of Gazan martyrs, namely Sheikh Ahmad Yasin, Abdul Aziz Al Rantisi, and Ibrahim Maqadma.
Additionally, the female board also held a talk show that presented two (80-years old) Palestinian women to share about their condition when they were expelled from their homeland in 1948.
Ayaa Hasouna Mazen, the chairwoman of the SEB, explained that the activities were held to remind the younger generation, especially students at the Islamic University of Gaza to what had been experienced by previous generations who had suffered fromIsraeli torture.
“The event was held to remind the younger generation of what have been experienced by Palestinian since our land annexed by the Zionist entity up to now,” said Hasouna.
Meanwhile, one of the participant in the event, Ahmad Ibrahim Al Falit, who was 20 years in Israeli prison said that the Palestinian prisoners condition in Israeli jails is very alarming.
“The situation of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails is very alarming, 5,000 prisoners, 19 of them are women, 1,200 people were in bad condition, 27 of them have cancer and they’re suffering more with no medical treatment provided by the Zionist jails, ” Ahmad Ibrahim told Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA)’s reperter.
He had been imprisoned by Israel since May 27, 1992 and released by the end of 2013 in a prisoner exchange. He said, seven prisoners died as a result of untreated illness, while at the beginning of the year 2014 two prisoners died in the jails for some reasons.
According to Ahmad, the rights of the prisoners never been fulfilled by Israel, as they denied family visit, prohibition of access to education, food that does not meet the standards, as well as the atrocities committed by Israel during interrogation, where a number of prisoners died due to torture when they were interrogated.
“Many prisoners protested by starting hunger strike, today there are at least 200 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails who are doing the strike,” he added.(L/KJ/P03/P04)
