Eruption of Tangkuban Perahu Mountain, Ashes Reaches 200 Meters

Jakarta, MINA – Tangkuban Parahu Mountain (Ratu Crater) erupts with ash column height observed ± 200 meters from the top or ± 2,284 meters above sea level, Friday (7/26), at 03:48 pm local time.

As a result of the observation of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) from the Tangkuban Parahu Volcano Observation Post, the ash column looks gray with thick intensity leaning northeast and south.

This eruption is recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 38 mm and a duration of ± five minutes 30 seconds.

Under these conditions, PVMBG asks the public, visitors, tourists and climbers who are around Mount Tangkuban Parahu not to stay in the active crater area inside the complex and are prohibited from approaching the bottom of Queen Crater and Upas Crater.

The PVMVG also called on the public to remain vigilant about the potential for sudden phreatic eruptions and without precedence with clear volcanic symptoms. (T/Ais/P2)
