US “ERRANT” PLANE KILLED 30 WEDDING GUESTS OF AFGHAN WEDDING
Kandahar, 7 Jumadil Akhir 1434/17 April 2013 (MINA) – A US plane has bombed central province of Uruzqan and left over 30 members of an Afghan wedding party dead and many more injured on Monday (15/4)
It was a case of mistaken identity, after plane spotted guest firing in air as a custom in Pashto weddinga, according to Daily Bhaskar report monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).
the media reported the bombing took place 175km northeast of the southern city of Kandahar.
The BBC Pashto service said that over 120 people have been either killed or wounded.
The residents were helped by foreign choppers, as the injured were rushed to the nearby hospital in Kandahar.
Americans officials have confessed that it was a ‘mistake’, like many other strikes in Afghan’s territory.
Meanwhile, Pentagon defended the bombing saying that warplane received anti aircraft fire, prompting them to respond with close air support north of Kandahar.
The Pentagon official did confess that one bomb was ‘errant’, but they are not aware of any civilian casualty.(T/P09/P03)
