Ramallah, 7 Dzulqa’dah 1435/2 September 2014 (MINA) – The Israeli prison authority has been holding disabled Palestinian detainee Shadi Daraghma, who is confined to a wheelchair, in al-Mascoubiya detention center for 24 uninterrupted days, denying him the right to lawyer visits and to urgent medical check-ups , the Palestinian Prisoner Society revealed on Sunday.

The Prisoner Society’s lawyer, who have hardly managed to see the detainee for short whiles, said that Daraghma, detained since August 7, has been diagnosed with a very critical health status and is in urgent need of special medical check-ups. according to Palestine Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA), Monday.

The lawyer said the occupation court and authorities not only extended Daraghma’s detention period to six more days, after the lawyer had appealed to the prison administration to restore his freedom due to his critical health condition, but have also been dragging the detainee to Ashkelon detention center time and again.

Daraghma’s case is one among many other political prisoners rounded up and mistreated by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) under flimsy pretexts. Such arbitrary campaigns culminated most recently in the abduction of three Palestinian citizens from Idna village, west of al-Khalil early Sunday morning.

The IOF carried out the abduction-campaign after having stormed Palestinians’ family homes and ransacked them using sniffer dogs and triggering a round of violent clashes across al-Khalil neighborhoods. (T/P003/P3)
