Visiting Palestine, President’s Malta Puts Wreath on Arafat’s Tomb

Valletta, MINA – President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca began her official one-day visit to Palestine on Thursday.

Coleiro Preca put a wreath on the tomb of the former Palestinian President Yasser Arafat during her visit at the occupied city of Ramallah.

She also received an official welcome at Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s headquarters, Maan News Agency reported, quoted by MINA.

After that, she visited the church of birth Jesus Christ and the University of Bethlehem in the City of Bethlehem.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chancellor of Bethlehm University, Brother Peter Bray welcomed Colerio Preca on campus, along with Minister of Tourism and Palestinian Antiques Rula Maayah and Head of Malta Representative Office Reuben Gauci.

Colerio Preca toured around Bethlehem University into several faculties such as, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Care Training Centers, and the Church which was built in 1908 before delivering a lecture themed “Tourism for Peace”.

Maayah explained to Colerio Preca about the situation in Bethlehem including the apartheid wall of Israel and the settlements surrounding the city, land grabs, and violations of Israeli authorities. (T/Sj/P2)
